Strawbale construction has been around for hundreds of years. In the US, 100 year old strawbale houses still exist. Strawbale is second to none for its thermal and acoustic insulation properties and as a waste material, it has a negligible impact on the environment. We do not recommend strawbale in every situation. Strawbale will decay in a damp environment and will retain the natural internal temperature very effectively. It is important to employ good basic solar design principles and to avoid it’s use in areas of high humidity.
